- Where can I find/reinstall Outlook Express?

OE is spontaneously crashing on me. Just forced shutdowns constantly when
composing msgs like this one.

I'm using OE 6.00 2800 1106 on WinXP SP1

I was wondering if I could re-install it with the latest version, and if so,
how?

Holy crap is that complicated... it involves touching the registry, even.

Can't I just uninstall and re-install OE the same way I would any other
non-microsoft program?

No. Outlook Express has been "built" into WinXP, so it cannot be
removed like 3rd party applications.

No. Outlook Express has been "built" into WinXP, so it cannot be
removed like 3rd party applications.

Still, you can re-install programs like this sometimes, by applying
certain service packs. I don't believe OE has anything like this yet,
though.

One idea, install every patch available, and update to 128 bit
security if it is only 40 bit. The key is that the more DLLs you
replace, the more likely an issue like this will get fixes, assuming (
a rather large assumption I'll admit ) that somewhere a DLL got messed
up in some way.

Never heard of that, unless you mean bugs. Windows Installer is
alleged to eliminate DLL problems (other than bugs), by re-installing
any DLL that a program needs if it is missing. So if one app over
writes a DLL with their own, WI should replace the one you need when
you use the original app.

In practice, I don't think it is perfect. Thus, if something like OE
or IE gets messed up, sometimes a re-install will fix it. Other times
you have to upgrade. I had an issue with v4 or v5 where the edit
controls on a form would not work, and fixed it by moving up a
version. Nothing else would work.
