View Full Version : WINXP SP2 FireWall OFF but still ACTIVE (at least partially)

Hi,

Hi,

I have the SP2 firewall setting at "Off (not recommended)" and nothing
ticked in the advanced tab for network connection settings. I've also
tried sundry other things.

I am having all sorts of random delays and issues and recently got the
firewall blocking an application. I double checked the settings and
the firewall is off...

Any ideas,
Dennis

Make sure it is off in services.

I'm not at home so I can't check this but from memory it is running.

I thought it was combined (in SP2) with internet connection sharing
(which is currently also not working to another WIN2000 box - but that
is another story - I think).

If I turn off the service will it kill ICS (more!)?

Thanks,
Dennis

Excellent, I'll retry ICS.

The problems I was having with some java apps was caused by the SP2
firewall (on SOME command lines - does it play with them?) as they
went away when I stopped the service...

Thanks,
Dennis
