I installed SP2 and now the pc keeps rebooting without
going into windows. Have tried booting in Safe Mode but
makes no difference, also tried boot in last working
configuration but also no joy. Anybody know a fix!!

Your computer stops responding when you restart to complete the installation of
Windows XP Service Pack 2

When you use F8 at bootup it gives other options. I don't
have one of those options handy, but I think it relates
to disable restart of becuase of errors. Try that

Larry, I don't think your suggestion is going to help with an XP SP2 update as the OP
can't even get into Windows.I believe what you're referring to is this which is used
if you need to investigate errors after Windows has started and things start to go
wrong and you don't have time to read the error message on the BSOD.

"Stopping computer rebooting when there is an error (Blue Screen)
The computer is configured to reboot on error.
Control Panel>System
Advanced Tab
Startup and Recovery section
Settings button
Locate "Automatically Restart" checkbox. Uncheck it.
Then click OK, OK
Now it won't reboot so you can now read the screen."
