Recently I read that Servicepak 2 for XP has problems and one should not
install it.
Is that true? On the last weekend I got the message that updates (in this
case sp2) is ready to get installed. I declined it.

Not true(unless you have a prescott processor). Sure maybe some people may
experience a problem here and there, but overall sp2 works fine, installs
fine, and should be applied asap.

Some people have problems. Many people do not. I've upgraded around 100
pc's with no problem, but I also prepare the machines carefully. Here
