Will Windows XP Pro version 2002 for PCs without Windows
or PCs with Windows 95 or earlier install as an update for
Win 98se? Or will I have problems?

I don't believe it will install as an upgrade over 98se; it needs to be
installed clean.

Actually it installs fine as an upgrade. The full version works to
upgrade a prior OS, and the upgrade version can be used to perform a
clean install. The only difference between the two is that the upgrade
will require that you show it a qualifying previous version before or
during the upgrade install.

Hi Michael actually the full retail version of XP can be used as an upgrade
over top of an existing Win98/Me/NT/2000 setup. But you are correct in that
an OEM version of XP must be clean installed.

Yes, Harry, thank you. I received an e-mail from Tom on this as well as I
had inquired of him about his response and I stand corrected.
