SP2 blocks ActiveX scripts, pop-ups and the like, which
is good. However, some scripts, pop-ups, etc. are
necessary parts of applications that I use everyday. I
am tired of having to click through 2-3 dialog boxes
authorizing scripts and pop-ups on sites that I am using
every day. Is there a way to selectively turn off this
functionality that came with SP2? Please let me know,
thanks.

Click the banner that appears in Internet Explorer everytime a pop up
appears and select display pop ups temporarily.

This is what I'm doing right now. Actually, I have to
first select the option to display pop-ups temporarily,
then I get another dialogue with a warning about ActiveX
and asking me if I'm really really sure I want to go
forward. All of the pop-up blocking software and the
like that I used previous to the SP2 upgrade gave you the
opportunity of allowing pop-ups, ActiveX, etc. on
selected sites that you designated, so that you didn't
have to go through one or two extra clicks every time you
visited one of your frequent sites. Is there a way to
enable that same kind of "learning" with SP2?

Select the option "Always Allow Popups from this Site". Simple, no?

I am not presented with that option. The only option
that I am presented with is "Allow Blocked Content",
followed by the lecture about the risks of ActiveX. I
WISH I was presented with the always allow pop-ups. I'm
guessing that ActiveX is a prompt each time where pop-ups
are handled differently?

If the process is active, there will be a little icon at the bottom of the
IE screen with a red x through it. If your mouse is over this, it will
state 'pop ups blocked'. **Right click** on this icon, and the option
appears.

There is no such icon. Here are the specifics....

The message I get is as follows:

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has
restricted this file from showing active content that
could access your computer. Click here for options"

The options presented are: "Allow Blocked
Content", "What's the Risk" and "Information Bar Help".

If I select "Allow Blocked Content", I am presented with
a sermon on Active content and asked if I want to
proceed, yes or no.

Two ways: In IE Tools - Popup there is a submenu item of settings that
allows you to make exceptions of selected sites.

Or more comprehensively, for sites that you really trust, Internet
Options - Security, highlight Trusted Zone, click Sites and add the url
of the site (you will need to uncheck the box about secure sites only)
