View Full Version : XP Backup

My version of XP did not include the backup and restore
utility. When I contacted HP, they sent me to
www.onecomputerguy.com to get the "ntbackup.msi" file.
After I have chosen the folders to backup I get an error
that states that the backup filename could not be used.
(I am backing up to my CD.) I am not using any unallowed
characters. I have even chosen to name the backup "a"
(without the quotes, obviously), but I still get the same
error. It states that I need to make sure that it is a
valid path and I have sufficient access. The drive is D
and I am administrator.

I have read KB #308422 and have found the instructions
differ to what the backup utility is showing.

Can anyone help me?

Greetings --

NTBackup does *not* support writing to CD's.

Check here for a work around but as Chris says the Backup program is not
designed to backup to CDs.
