I am currently doing a third installation of windows xp
using the upgrade cd. I am using a brand new hard
drive, updated BIOS, all my hardware is good to go for
windows xp,I verified my ownership of a previous and
approved windows os and did a clean install of xp(previous
operating system was on my old hard drive and was
formatted and will be used as a secondary hard drive).

During all these installations I keep getting the same old
messages. These files could not be copied to the
installation folders for some reason: tsbvcap.sys,
tsbyuv.dll,usbcamd.sys,usbcamd2.sys.

I had the computer up and running but it keeps on crashing
and will not let me get past the page where microsoft
scans for updates. It also will not let me install some
other software that I use (crashes during installation).
My memory is good, motherboard is good, hardware is good,
no other programs on the harddrive because it's new.

If anyone knows of these problems and how to fix them
please reply.

Thanks for the help

Somebody more knowledgable than me will probably chip in and say I am
barking up the wrong tree, but one thing that occurs to me is that if
you are using an Upgrade CD, then you need to install whatever the
previous OS was before you can use the XP upgrade? You do not say you
did this, but quote from above - "did a clean install of xp".

Thanks Kath. I tried the upgrade the first time on my old hard drive. I was
using ME.

I did a little more homework last night and think I have found the problem,
I hope this will help anyone else that's having this problem during
installation of XP.

I installed some "new" RAM that I purchased on eBay. Of course I couldn't
install it before the 7 day return because of a nice little hurricane that
hit us that weekend. Apparently the ram is more than likely the problem.
Listed causes for this lack of copying files is: dirty cd-rom
drive, scratched or dirty installation cd, bad RAM. I will clean the cd-rom
drive and try it once more and if that doesn't work i'll take out the RAM and
install some continuity strips in those RIMM sockets. I'll post a follow-up
after I try this and let everyone know what worked. Thanks for the help.
