Subject says it all. Dell Inspirion, XP Pro, SP2 installed. firewall
enabled. Symantec antivirus corporate edition. Virus scan finds nothing,
spybot S&D finds nothing, Adaware finds nothing. However, when connected to
the college network, it will occasionally shut down.

I have searched in the event logs, I see nothing. It hasn't done this when
it was being watched. Just seems to happen when my back is turned.

It doesn't shut down unless it is connected to the network. It doesn't
happen when using dialup netowrking either, just if I connect to the college
network. Doesn't shut down when connected to my DSL network at home either.

I suspect random port probe, but can't figure out what. Left on its own it
runs fine for days at a time.

remove darnspam to reply direct if you so desire..
Thank you,

Suggest that you download Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com Install,
and open, then click on Check for Updates... Run a complete scan and remove
the malware that it finds.
