I ordered a free SP2 disk from M$ and proceeded to install it on my WinXp
home machine. Everything went fine until the very end when it was
finalizing. The process hung and I left it for 1 hour with no luck. I had to
crtl-alt-del to force a restart. Windows rebooted with a warning screen that
it had to do a system restore. It booted to a "windows is unstable, please
uninstall SP2" DBX. I went thru the lengthly uninstall. I rebooted. I tried
to install again... same process.. no luck. This process screwed my computer
up. It had to re- recognize many hardware components and trashed my HP 7140
printer software-- it also ruined the uninstallability of the software. I
had to use the uninstaller off the CD to remove it and re-install. SP2 can
go to HE!! . Sorry for the outburst, but after many hours of pain & agony,
its really pi$$&#$ me off.

Hi Jeff,

Blame HP for using cheap unsupported hardware and proprietary drivers, not
Microsoft. The SP2 package works just fine, the problems with many
proprietary systems is the way they are built and the OS *******ized by the
major OEM manufacturers.
