I installed SP2 a couple of days ago and my system seems quicker. Nothing
really specific, just a general improvement in Windows/applications
performance.

Is this my imagination?

The only problems so far is Nero had to be updated.

No. It's definitely a bit snappier. 8-)

It may be, but nice to find someone whose imagination is not struck the
other way. A point about it is that Installing SP2 leaves files
scattered around and undoes all the optimisations that have gone on - it
accordingly deletes the PreFetch folder, and that has to be rebuilt.
This usually does result in some actual slowing in loading programs.
Defrag the system, and then reboot two or three times during the next
week, so that data on boot accumulates in PreFetch along with that on
programs you load, and the every-three day optimisation will start to
improves things pretty soon
