No the link is good and you don't need any other software if you simply wish
to install SP2. The info I sent was, as I mentioned, what one can do to
create a slipstreamed version of XP. Check here http://tinyurl.com/3pkm6 to
see if one of the solutions offered helps.

Thank you again, Harry. I did the tiny link and it led me, as
you know, to a considerable number of links and documents,
many with suggested remedies. I have looked at a few but I
haven't found one yet which I could try without bolstering
my courage considerably. They look complicated and dangerous.
They remind me of what Symantec gives you for Uninstalling
their Norton System Works......living with the disease might
be more palatable than the cure, which in their case, is
entirely impractical to accomplish.
This is why I first made a clone of my Hard Drive (you may recall
our conversations a few months ago on *that* subject). I keep my
main hard drive pristine, and decided to install SP2 on a clone.
Good thing I did. My next step will be to make a new clone and
try installing SP2 again....maybe I'll be luckier on a second
try. But it's remarkable that the error message I got is so
widespread......
