Infrared not working after XP SP2

Hi,

I installed Windows XP SP2. I immediately got major problems with my
wireless network. Now a few weeks after I needed my infrared port for the
first time after the installation. The IR port just fails to work, it sees no
infrared devices.

I got tired of SP2 and rolled back. Now the wireless connection works as in
used to but the infrared is gone. Does anyone have any ideas how to proceed?

Did you check whether the Infrared service is set to automatic?

I only have a service called Inrared Monitor. Is this the same thing? This
service is set to automatic and is up and running. If it is not the same
thing then XP SP 2 may have removed the service for some reason.
