I decide to install the SP2 upgrade on my computer after taking all the
suggested precautions before doing so and if it all goes pear-shaped, is
there an uninstall option for SP2 and would I be able to use System Restore
still restore to an earlier state before the upgrade if no uninstall exists?
From past experience, System Restore sometimes appears to get corrupted when
messing around with the System.

Yes you would be able to use system restore, provided you
created restoration points for reference.

Yes you can use system restore (provided you created
additional restoration points), and should not be any
problem to you.

There is an uninstall for sp2 if you choose to backup and archive your files
during the sp2 install.

there is also an "uninstall" option in Add/Remove Programs

After installing SP2, you will be able to do it via ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS..
when using this method, check the box to 'show updates'.. use System Restore
as a last option..

Best way woudl be to do a partition image before installing SP2. Should
something go wrong and uninstall not work ( example Windows doesn't start
anymore) or system restore somehow not work, you allways can restore the
image of your system partition, and restart ( save to DVD or to another hard
disk or partition ).
