If you upgraded from a previous Windows, look in Add/Remove for uninstall
XP. If it was a clean install of preinstalled, see the link below.

Format XP using NTFS or FAT.

Well, not every time. If the partition is NTFS, you must first use FDISK,
delete the non-DOS partition, create new partition, set it active, exit,
reboot with the floppy still in the drive and then format.
