After installing SP2, I tried my dial up connection and got the message
"Unable to establish conneection".
I then dug down though Settings> [Dial up and VPN settings] Settings> [Dial
up Settings] Properties, and in the "connect using" box it said "Modem
removed - Intel(R) 536EP Modem (Com6)"

If I try using the add hardware wizard only COM 1 & 2 are detected and if I
try moving it to an alternative PCI slot it won't install as there is no
digitally signed driver.

I have to do a system restore and then the modem is recognised and works
fine.

Any help would be much appeciated.

TIA
Russell Allen

Hi Mike,

how do I 'persuade' XP/SP2 to accept NON digitally signed modem drivers in
general. In my case I failed to install a NETODROGON 56k driver due to this
missing signature.
Thx for your advice
Wolfgang
