I have a file server (Lacie ethernet disk which runs
windows embedded) behind my router which I access
remotely.

Before I installed SP2, I used to add network places,
point to my file server, login and the web folder
appeared correctly.

Now with SP2 installed, I can no longer login. The login
appears, but the server wont recognise my
username/password. It seems that xp sp2 is passing on the
network ip address with my user name and the server
doesnt recognise it as a valid user name.

It's definately related to SP2 - 2 pcs on the same
network - one without SP2 can access, and the one with
cant. Any ideas? Thanks

check the "new" SP2 firewall settings (or disable it if you have a hardware
firewall)
