Has anyone heard of any plans that Microsoft may be producing a
second edition for Windows XP in the near future? I am
considering upgrading from W98SE and don't want to be caught out
too soon.

Greetings --

No, Microsoft will not be making a Windows XP Second Edition. This next
version of Windows will be released in early 2006 or late 2005. Go ahead
and upgrade to Windows XP.

Better make sure your machine is up to XP, most 98 class machine will run xp
to slow to make you happy, but if speed is not a problem, go for it.
