In certain cases when I am on the net, and jumping from
one link to the next, windows stops responding. If you
Ctrl, Alt, Delete, the Windows task manager pops up and
indicates the program is running, however, I am not able
to go anywhere. I have to end the task and/or reboot the
computer.

This problem began only recently, in fact, when I first
purchased the computer (less than a year ago) there was no
windows task manager poping-up. Therefore, I am assuming
this was part of an automatic update.

What can I do about it?

This is with IE, right? Did you install any extensions or ActiveX controls
recently? Misbehaved extensions are one possible cause.

If this only started happening recently, you may also consider trying System
Restore.
