What's this problem

Our computer came with Windows XP, Recently, There are
two problems.
1. After I log off my account, the computer screen turns
gray ang hangs there. I cannot event reset by pressing
reset button, I have swtich off the power and turn it
back on again.
2. I can not open attachment of my email using outlook
express.
Is it virus or something?

Can't help with the first problem, but on the second:
1. Open "Outlook Express".
2. Click: Tools/Options/Security tab/uncheckmark the sentence "Do not allow
attachments, etc,.
