Has anyone seen a hard drive become unrecognizable after
the system goes into Hibernate?

I was working when the system went into hibernate (so it
shouldn't have gone into that mode) and now my hard drive
appears to be toast.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

It may not have been hibernate, it may have been a drive failure. Download a
drive diagnostic utility from the hard drive maker and run the tests on the
drive, see what it reports. Be aware that some tests will erase data on the
drive, so be careful about which ones you run.
