I have just moved from NT to XP.
In NT you could have open multiple session of the one
application(e.g. Excel), each with its own set of
spreadsheets.
In XP, when "grouping" is on, all spreadsheets from all
sessions are grouped under the one button in the taskbar.
If grouping is not on, you are drowning in spreadsheets on
the taskbar.
Strangely, if you are in Excel, clicking on "Window" will
only show the spreadsheets you opened with that session.

Is it possible to make the grouping work on sessions of an
applications rather than on the type of application?

Thanks,

Peter

This is an Excel feature as far as I can see. Uncheck "Windows in
Taskbar" in Tools > Options > View.
