Undefeated C:\$Mft

Thanks for all the feedback but to no avail
My prob remains undefeated
The system is now showing a yellow warning sign on the
taskbar telling me I have this corrupted file C:\$Mft
I have run Antivirus, spybot and the systems chkdsk but
all come up ok. I have now run an externall memory chk
disk and that tells me my memory is ok !!!!
The system will not allow me to defrag because it says I
have scheduled a chkdsk (haven't) and I should run it. I
run and the same thing happens B*****D.
The system continues to tell me I have not enough paging
memory and I should alter it, this I have done but it
tells me it's still at 0 !! b*****D
AAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH.
Any ideas ? Thanks

Andy, a corrupted MFT is a corrupted MFT. If there is any chance at all of
recovery, you have to use the right tools. Antivirus, spybot and the likes
can be incredibly useful but they are not the right tools for this problem.

Chkdsk is the only tool provided with XP for this and it has failed to work
on your corrupted MFT. You're getting close to the end of the line but you
*might* be able to find a third party tool.

Since the site sells software besides containing informational content,
they of course recommend their products. There are other programs in this
category. For example, OnTrack has some offerings: www.ontrack.com

Worse scenario is deleting the partitions on this drive, recreate the
partitions. Format. The drive will be ready to install whatever and, if you
format NTFS, it will have a "fresh" MFT.
