I just converted from fat32 to ntfs.

Is there any free software that can change the cluster size?

I don't know if there is free software that can do it but PowerQest's
Partition Magic can do it and you won't need to reformat.
www.powerquest.com, note, check the site for versions compatible with XP.

Bill, that command converts fat32 to NTFS, something the OP had already
done. The OP wants to change the cluster size.

I have partition magic but the option is greyed out.

I have backed up all my data and am going to reformat my c:\ tomorrow

The reason I wanna change cluster size is that performance is sluggish.

Try using Partition Magic's emergency boot disks, that way you'd be
accessing the options from outside XP as that might make a difference.
Also, be sure your version of Partition Magic is compatible with XP.
