View Full Version : Slow file open with SP2

Since I've installed SP2 I've had a problem with
performance when trying to open files on a Windows
server. A Word doc that would take about 1 second to
open now takes up to 15 seconds. If I remove the sp2
everything works fine. We are seeing this on all of our
XP workstations. Any ideas?

What kind of Windows server is that?

You could have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.hrm.

We have tried this on Windows 2000 and 2003 servers.
This happens to any kind of file that you try to open on
the servers. If I remove SP2 the files open up right up.

Sorry for the typo in the link. I have corrected it now. Here it
is again:

http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm

Look particularly at the chapter on SMB signing.
