sp2 stopping my scanner

Since installing SP2 my Packard Bell Diamond 1200 plus scanner isnt
recognised.

I get told the computer cannot detect any scanner.

I've uninstalled scanner software, reinstalled, updated drivers, downloaded
drivers, all to no avail.

I've checked the scanner out on a friends computer and its fine.

I'm sure there must be an easy answer so please help me with it.

Try removing *all* scanner references from Device Manager; select View
Hidden Devices. Uninstall all of them - some in Scanners and Cameras,
some in USB section. Then reboot. Try connecting the scanner after the
reboot and see if it is found.
