I just installed SP2 on a Dell dimension 8200 running XP Home PC. Now I can't
get anything to run. I get a host error and winschd32 error when it boots. I
have tried unsuccessfully to uninstall but when I choose the option, nothing
happens. Any suggestions (I've been at it for 5 hours!)

SP2 should be listed in Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. You can
uninstall it from there.

Follow the instructions here to remove SP2:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;875350
If you downloaded SP2 with your A/V running, I would try to download
it again after the uninstall with your A/V off, as well as any other
open programs.

Yes it is listed. However, once the PC is booted, nothing will run. I have
tried removing it in safe mode but get an error. Nothing I click on (other
than Word and Excel) will start.

Thanks. I will try this approach since nothing else seems to work. I used the
CD direct from MS to install SP2. I may just leave SP2 off this PC at least
until I can determine if I need to flash the BIOS.
