View Full Version : WinXP-Home Accessess floppy on startup

During the logon process, after the Desktop appears, and after I hear the
"Start Windows" sound, my A:\ drive is briefly accessed...not even enough
that it makes the grinding noise, just the green light comes on for 2-3
seconds. I get no messages on the screen about inserting a disk, nothing
seems to not work.

I've cleared Recent Documents list, loaded Windows without my EZ-Antivirus
software, but this activity continues.

Is this by design. Any ideas on what is causing it?

Thanks!

Hi Michael -

This is a standard part of the system's bood process. When the light
flashes the floppy drive is being registered by the motherboard.

Karen,

Are you meaning this registration process happens after Windows has
loaded...this brief light flash happens after all of my desktop is loaded,
etc.

Thanks Karen for your help!

Do you have floppy drive protection turned on in your antivirus program?
