I loaded sp2 for XP professional and now my system will
not start. It says my windowsystem32\config\system is
missing or corrupt. I attempted to reload it from the
original install disc. But the disc does nothing when I
put it in the drive.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

When did this happen -- during the install process, or some take later?
