Outlook 2000

I'm running office 2000 pro on windows XP. When I try to
create a new message in Outlook using word as E.Mail
editor, I get a dialogue box saying "unable to load
Wordmail" and suggesting a dialogue box maybe open (none
are) word is incorrectly installed (donn't think so) or
close other programs and try again (nothing else running)

Any suggestions?

Is this a comapibility problem with office 2000 pro and
windows XP pro?
