View Full Version : How to get back old startup and shutdown?

I have Win XP Home. From the beginning, my startup and shutdown were easy.
On the startup, I'd see full screen MS Logo and progress of downloading. On
shutdown, after clicking Start, I'd see ONE window with three options
available: Standby, Shutdown, Restart.
Recently, something had happened and now on the startup I see one small
window saying <Windows is loading>, then another small window <Loading your
personal data>, then a full screen MS Logo with the process indicator (three
dots running). On shutdown, I'm getting one window, but have to open list of
options and choose one.
I don't like this new procedure. How can I get back to the old startup and
shutdown procedures?
Thanks for any suggestion

It sounds as though the Welcome Screen has been turned off. Open Control
Panel, open User Accounts, click "Change the way users log on or off," place
a check next to "Use the Welcome screen and click apply options.
