Need to reinstall XP and totally clear my HD, how?

I want to reinstall windows XP and clear off my HD. Just
wipe the slate clean. I've tried reinstalling windows from
the CD before, but alot of my old files still show up. I
want to do it where there is nothing on there that I have
now. How do I do that?

You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
