After I have installed SP2 I get the message 'The page
cannot be displayed' when visiting certain sites. I have
turned the firewall off, turned off the pop-up setting,
uninstalled and reinstalled SP2 but still get the problem.
At the bottom of the page I also get the message:
'Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer'
Can anyone assist please.

Maybe the website is having issues.

I too am having the same problem. I know that I was able to access certain
sites a few months ago but now I am not able too.
Please anyone have any ideas.

I have the same problem. My WinXP Pro w/IE v6sp2(IE only) can't display some
sites, but my Win2k w/IE v6 can. I've set the IE security and privacy
settings to low and disabled my AV software but nothing seems to work. For
me, I did not install the XP SP2 and don't think I will.

Some additional information to add to my previous post.
I also have a WinXP Home machine w/IE v6sp2(IE only), WinME w/IE v6sp1, and
Win2k Advanced server w/IE v6sp1. The problem is strictly confined to my
WinXP Pro machine.
One of the sites I've been trying to access is http://www.starwood.com ...

Mark,
I found out yesterday after making some changes to IE that for my problem is
looks to be a conflict with IE and Sun JRE(Java Runtime Environment). I use
the JRE on some performance websites that require Sun Java. I went into the
Internet Options , Advanced tab, and scrolled down until I found Sun Java,
just before Microsoft VM, I unchecked the Sun Java box AND all MS VM boxes.
That seems to have worked for me. I wouldn't be surprised if it is some type
of conflict between Sun Java and MS and they way a site implements Java
scripts.
