I am running Norton AntiVirus 2002 which is completely up
to date. Since downloading SP2 I get the error message
from Microsoft that says it cannot detect the status of
Norton. The recommendation is to check that it is up to
date and switched on - which it is.
I've spent ages looking for a fix which seems often
referred to on the Symantic site but I can't find it.
Please, can anyone help me?

Sarah;
Symantec has not yet released a fix for versions older than 2004:

Apparently there will be, but only Symantec knows their time table.

AV software of the '02 vintage is past its useful life. You should consider
upgrading to a more recent version.
