Did the SP2 take after the low level? If so could you please post the
commands - I am having a similar problem with a Dell Dimension 4400.

A couple of points: This was not to do with the registry. Formatting
fully from a separate boot (eg the XP CD) removes the registry totally.
It suggests a case of bad sectors on the drive. A Full format from
booting a DOS floppy should detect such; a run of its SCANDISK
(unfortunately only on FAT 32 partitions) will detect them and mark them
as not to be used; I guess Dell provided a utility to do that

I'm getting the same error: "STOP: C0000221 Unknown Hard Error
\SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll"
I had to go back the previous saved system restore point in safe
mode to get the computer running again.
I have a Dell Dimension 4500, with WinXP.
I hope there is a resolution to this.
