View Full Version : support sucks

Why does microsoft monopolize the market and offer zero
support for its products (except on a pay per issue
basis). Surely with all Bill Gates money he could afford
some live online help and free telephone support or at
least better support within his products. I can never
seem to find any answers to questions in the Help menu.
I wish they had some decent competition. We can all dream.

I suppose you should go to Linux where their support.. Oh wait..

Okay - go to Macintosh where the support is.. oh yeah..

Uhmm... BeOS.. No.. What about.. Uhm.. Damn.. N/M - I got nothing.

You expect some person to come sit at your house with you so that when you
download and install Kazaa and grab some bad file and it corrupts everything
you have he can fix it for you? Or when you spill coke in your keyboard and
type the wrong word and it deletes that valuable word file? Or when you
boot with the wrong CD and it wipes your system? Don't install a virus
scanner and open that email from "Aunt Marge" that corrupts all your EXE
files? Don't hook a surge protector to your PC and it gets zapped by
electrical surges?

Just like any product, you should learn a bit about it yourself. Learn
where to go for the answers. Show a little backbone - a little initiative.
Everything you need to know is out there, somewhere. Your inability to find
it is not our problem.

Guess you are searching wrong as I have never found a question that did not
have "multiple" listings for the answers!

Let me help you understand where the statements I made come from:

As far as I could tell, there was no direct question to answer (or
indirect.) It was therefore, not meant to be helpful - beyond the indirect
(or direct - depending on how obvious you think I was) implication that said
person should just TRY and help themselves instead of sitting around waiting
on others to provide them with all the answers.

It seemed and still does seem like a troll for attention and to get people
worked up for no good reason. I think it will just get worse and worse as
the new Mac G5s are released full force (large cheese grater looking
machines.. Check 'em out if you haven't, they have another unique look on
their hands. heh) The Linux fanatics have slowed their influx somewhat (or
I have not witnessed a large number of Linux trolls as of late.) I expect
it every so often form some frustrated "can't help themselves" soul or other
OS fanatic just looking to start trouble.

Now let me iterate something right now - notice I have referred to these
people as "fanatics" and not "advocates". This is because an advocate would
present their reasons and expect and welcome opposite and coinciding
opinions of others. Advocates look to improve not only their favorite
"whatever"(OS in this case) - but also other peoples ideas on what they
want/need in their favorite "whatever" (OS in this case.) Fanatics are
those who don't care about others ideas. They are right, you are not. They
are the same people you work with and whenever something goes wrong, it
wasn't them - it was some weakness or wrong in someone else or something
else that was "beyond their control". Their ideas are always sound and they
cannot make a mistake. You know the type. Right.. Give me a break.

I am not a fanatic in any fashion when it concerns Operating Systems,
PC/MAC, software suites, whatever - I have to support it all. I see the
weakness of ALL sides. If there was a perfect OS or perfect set of software
tools out there, we'd be done. We wouldn't have these newsgroups or even
have to develope any further products. We could all sit on our then
jelly-like asses and use the perfect OS on the perfect hardware and watch
our bodies and mind turn to the same jelly our asses are instead of
developing new things. Yay jelly!

Did I mention IMHO? I guess I just did. heh

a thousand years ago, children were forced to look at new
buildings and other works of art.

They were told to be full of awe when looking at the new
structure. The children were told to be good. Eventually
"full of awe" became awful which originally meant nice, full
of wonder and excitement. But as the kids really didn't
care, they said, "awful" just to pass the test, but they
meant "I really don't care, it looks crappy." (whatever word
they used for crappy)

A bad thing sucks, but just ask Bill about Monica, someday
"sucks" will be a proud claim to fame and fortune.
