I got a new PC (Win XP). I added the hard drive from my
old PC (had Win 98SE). I copied some files from the old
drive, onto the new C: drive, and it told me that some of
the file names were too long (over 30 characters). I
renamed those names shorter, and now it won't let me
delete the files. It says it cannot Delete the
file 'cause it cannot Find the file. Any solutions,
please?

Hi Mark,
If I understand correctly, you want to delete the original
file from the source HD after you've copied it to XP.
After you copy over the renamed file to your source HD to
your destination HD, go back to the source HD and
rename the file (again), back to its original name - then try deleting it.

You might save a step by simply MOVING the files to your destination
HD instead of copying them and then deleting the original from
the source.
