Some .jpg file have gone missing (presumably deleted in
error) from my pc, is there anyway to restore them?

Do a search on your computer for *.jpg and you might find
them in another folder, then move them back.
If your wife deleted them, you'll need to see if you can
find them on the web again. A hidden private folder will
keep them safe from "accidental" deletion.

In general, files are not deleted, the name is just changed
a little so it doesn't show in a normal search and the space
it has on the drive is marked as free. Until something
over-writes that space the file can be recovered, but it
helps if you have a recovery program already downloaded
because you might just over-write the file you want when you
download it. Many of these recovery programs run from a
bootable floppy or from a floppy.

If you have the pictures in printed form, scan them in
again.

Hi Craig,

If you've removed them from the Recycle Bin, then there is a chance they are
lost. If the space they occupied has not yet been overwritten (and every use
of your pc will overwrite free space), then this utility may help recover
them:
