File settings and transfer will NOT work from one pc to another unless there
is a direct cable connection or network present!

Firstly, please turn off your caps lock. It's considered to be shouting.
Secondly, on your old PC you need to locate ALL files with the extension dbx
and wab. Copy these in whatever way you can (CD, Zip drive, Network etc) to
your new PC. Make sure that the copied files have the "Read Only" attribute
turned off. Then on OE on your new pc, go to File-Import and follow the
instructions.

BTW, you will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post OE
questions to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlooke xpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlook express for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlooke xpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/

Hi Russ,

If you can network the pc's, try using the Files and Settings Transfer
Wizard, read up on it here:
http://aumha.org/win5/a/fast.htm

Otherwise, read how to backup and restore your OE mail and address book from
Tom Koch:

Greetings --

When did that change? Last time I tested FAST, it offered the
option to save to a disk.

You may be right - I've never used it. But from the comments and posts I've
seen, its normal use is when the upgrade is done on the one machine, so I
assumed that, (like NTBackup in XP) it wouldn't save to a disk. (Would have
to be a CDRW in any case to be of any use....)
