I downloaded SP2 yesterday at home. It took ages on 500k
ADSL. It then took ages to install. After installation I
appear to have another (? see message from "Ron"
> on 11- Oct-04)DVD drive which doesnt
exist, and cant use explorer to visualise disc contents in
either the CD-ROM or DVD-RW drives. My whole system has
slowed up; I am getting intermittent system failures where
I lose the task bar and my desktop icons and the system
freezes with only the Microsoft 'Landscape' showing. Any
ideas how I can rescue the situation? Please!!!

Open Device Manager (Start-Run-devmgmt.msc) and remove all DVD\CD
drives. The reboot. Now (re)install your chipset (motherboard) drivers
and then reboot. Now see if you still have problems ;)
