SP2 installation failure- Error Code: 80070017

I've gotten this error "Error Code: 80070017 " 4 times, twice trying to
get SP2 via automatic updates and twice trying to do it manually via the
Windows Update site. Does anyone know what this is and how I can resolve
it? I've referenced this website
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm and done as much as I can on
this checklist prior to attempting this install manually, however I had
trouble and had to back off using SpyBot, but did run SpySubtract
successfully as far as I can tell. I have a Compaq Presario 5000.

Here is what I can suggest that might help you out:

First step is we are going to need to obtain a copy of the full
installation package of SP2:

You can aquire it here: (if you do it this way verify the location you are
saving it too)

Next step is we need to boot into safe mode:

To enter Safe Mode, please use the following
steps:

1. Restart the computer.
2. Keep pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
3. Choose Safe Mode, and press Enter.

Note: In Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and perform
differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary.

Now either go to the location you saved the full install package to or
insert your SP2 CD and initiate the install.

This should allow you to install the SP with no problems
