I can't connect to a wireless network with a laptop after installing SP2.
This problem has manifested on multiple laptops from multiple
manufactures(i.e. Toshiba, IBM, HP). With all os these they were working
fine before SP2 and stoped connecting after SP2 was installed.

I have verified that the drivers are up to date and have tried connecting
to three different access points with and without encryption turned on. I
can get a connection if I uninstall the wireless NIC and reinstall it but the
minute it is rebooted it is unable to connect. I have diabled all firewalls
and also all other NIC's and it doesn't help. I have tried disabling zero
configuration tool in XP and useing the connection software that came with
the NIC and no go. I have even installed external USB NIC's and had the same
problem.

I have taken the same external USB and hooked it up to a desktop with XP SP2
and it would conect to all three wireless access points repeatedly.

I have a toshiba laptop wireless connected to the internet. I keep hearing so
many bad news about SP2 for XP that I have decided for now not to upgrade to
SP2. Contrary to some people urging me to upgrad.

Are there any DCOM errors in the event logs?
Do you have UPnP turned on in FW and the all needed services running?

Is the laptop older - used a or b but not g like the router?
maybe G router is a compat but not b. visa versa???

Did you release your IP between access points?

Some wireless network connections has two, one for the tcp/ip and then a
PPoe dial in over the tunnel.
NO, it not a VPN, which would be a third type.

Just some more items to consider.
