Hi Jack,

Thanks for your response. I did a search on all
file/folder names but came out with nothing. I also
noticed that my hard drive space became smaller now... I
saved files on the desktop so they are not shortcuts. Is
there any way I can recover all the files. They are VERY
important to me. I know that it is not a good idea to
save files on the desktop but I was going to back them up
later :-(

Hi Sandra,

Please define how your hard drive space has "become smaller".

When I click on window explorer and click on the property
of C drive, the amount of free space got 1 or 2 Gb larger
than it was yesterday.

Hi Sandra,

Are you logged in to the same profile? Or did you get an error message and
were subsequently logged into another? If you check the desktop folder under
your profile, do you see anything of the missing folders?

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Desktop

Hi Sandra,

Ok, first try this utility to see if it can locate and recover the files. If
they were accdentally deleted and have not been overwritten, it should help:
http://hccweb1.bai.ne.jp/~hcj58401/

If it finds only partials of the files/folders, then you will need
professional data recovery, or write them off as lost completely.

If it finds no evidence of the missing files, please post back.
