View Full Version : recovering from sleep mode

When I leave my computer on for the specified time, the
computer/monitor goes into sleep mode. Sometimes when I
move the mouse to wake the computer up, nothing happens.
In fact, pressing the power button on the tower does
nothing....so I kill the power supply, turn it back on
and the computer reboots. Why is my computer not
responding like this?

Do you have a pagefile (virtual memory) on your system partition?
On one of my machines where I disable the pagefile entirely on the the
system partition and set it up on another partition I experienced the
PC not coming out of sleep/standy mode as you describe. I setup a
small pagefile on the system partition and the problem went away.
