I have posted this problem this morning but want to
repost it with things to check suggested by other helpers:

Problem: I saved some important files and folders on the
desktop but this morning when I woke up, they were all
gone (however, the shortcuts for programs are still on
the desktop). All I lost was the files/folders that I
created and saved on the desktop.

Here's what I have done and checked so far:
a) I did a search on my hard drive but found nothing.
b} The Desktop Folder in Windows Explorer is empty.
C) I found my hard drive space has become smaller today
than that of yesterday (about 1-2 Gb less).
d) I have the "Show Desktop Icons" checked.

Please HELP!!! I really need those files back...

Hi Sandra,

Please stick to the original thread. If you start skipping around, it gets
too confusing.
