Fixed SP2 slow boot but.....

I googled a fix for XP slow bootup after installing SP2. The problem seems
to be the new DEP (Data Execution Prevention).
By editing the boot.ini file of DEP from "OptIn" to "AlwaysOff", it makes
this feature unavailable, but solves the slow boot problem. Since this
feature
is supposed to enhance security of the computer, the question is, how much
risk am I assuming by disabling DEP?

Now that I'm satisfied that the long boot times are associated with SP2 and
not a hardware or other installed software problem, i Could live with it if
it
was significant in enhancing the security of the computer. If not, I'll
leave it off.
