To create an exception so Norton Anti-Virus 2005 will not scan my fax modem
port (it keeps producing a false read that there's a worm intrusion), I must
browse to find the file and program. I can't my Microsoft Fax in My Computer
or My Documents and I don't where Control Panel is. Anyone know the address?

Me too, also, in safe mode no printer or modem is shown in administrator or
my user (w/administrator privledges).

Sending a fax results in crash w/blue screen. OCR doesn't know which driver
is causing issue. Panasonic Toughbook CF 48.

Modem connects to ISP without problems, or I wouldn't be here.

Using Microsoft document imager as printer, works fine.

Control Panel Device Manager Ports shows com1 installed in some places and
modem installed on com3 in others.

Printers and faxes shows FAX and MS Document Image Writer, Device Manager
shows installed Ok.

Norton Utilities System Info and Check-it show no modem installed. This is
different since I installed Fax through Wizard. Before Sysinfo and Check-it
showed a working modem on Com3

What did I do wrong?

Mark,

right-click 'My Computer' and click 'Properties' > click 'Hardware' > click
'Device Manager' > expand (+) the 'Modems' heading > double-click on your
Fax Modem > click 'Driver' tab > click 'Driver Details'. This is where
you'll find the location & file name of your Fax modem.

ps- Your Control Panel is at: Start > Settings > Control Panel. Or
right-click on 'Start' and click 'Explore' > on the bottom left side of the
menu tree, click Control Panel.
