I got a very streaky monitor..

Soft cloth, with a detergent.....DUH!!!! what kind of detergent???
Would appreciate any advise, or guidance.

1. Find Endust for Electronics or a similar product.
2. Get a Scotch high performance cloth from 3M

Many people use eyeglass cleaning cloths with alcohol cleaning solution as
well.

Also, there is a micro brush to simply sweep away any
dust that collects when wet cleaning isn't possible. Best Buy
has a cleaning kit (liquid, Felt-like cleaning pads & brush).
Think the last time I purchased one it was $15.00.

What does this have to do with XP?

Here's a suggestion on how to do what you asked: Stand up on a chair
and yell out "Can anybody find the manual for my monitor? Can anybody
tell me how it suggests I clean it?"

What does the manufacturer recommend in the manual that they
provided with the monitor?

How "bout if I stand on a chair and yell "Hey nobodyman , Kiss my Ass" would

You would clean it following the specific instructions in the users manual
that came with the monitor. Failing ownership of a users manual, find it on
the website of the monitor manufacturer. You most certainly do not want to
use any kind of alcohol or commercial glass cleaner like Windex.

A mild, diluted detergent (a non-bleach, low suds type,
maybe a single drop of liquid Dial or Palmolive in a cup of
water.) Just a damp soft cloth, well wrung out, no dripping
allowed.

I have used Windex with no problems. I spray it on the paper towel first and
get it real damp. No streaks and crystal clear every time

So I'm to blame because you posted a question that has NOTHING to do
with the OS the group is about, and I called you out on it? Ever
think of asking in a group dealing with monitors or hardware? Oh, and
I bet my mother COULD do this because SHE is smart enough to know how
to read an owner's manual.

As just about everybody else in this thread pointed out, you should
have RTFM. IT will tell you what to do.

Now go to your room and clean up all the toys you won't let the other
kids play with. I'm speaking to you like a child since that's what
you are acting like.

Oh, and wash out your mouth before you kiss YOUR momma goodnight.
