An error messgae appears - "We apologise for the inconvenience, but windows
did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have
caused this."

I did install a piece of software just before the computer creashed, has
anyone any ideas on how i can run windows to uninstall this? I have backed
up my work but not the most recent some of which i would really like to keep.

I have tried all the options which appeared below the error message such as
starting in safe mode and from the last good configuration but they all bring
me back to the error message.

Pressing F2 brings up the PhoneixBIOS Setup Facility which doesn't seem to
be of any help but i don't really understand it.

Pressing F8 gives me the Windows Advances Options menu which is another list
of start up options such as safe mode and reboot all of which bring me back
to the error message.

Thanks for any help you can give.

You may be able to use the Recovery Console available on the install CD.

It would be really, really helpful if you told us about your computer-make,
model etc. and this recent piece of software.

Riiiiiiiight. If you want to get the work back, you'll probably have to
install a new hard drive and work your way through the old one backing the
files up.
In case you haven't already, try starting in safe mode as this is much
easier than going through it with another hard drive
