Don't laugh. What is the difference between Linux and
Unix. Is it like RedHat and Caldera meaning different
brands of the same system or totally different systems
like Windows and Mac.

UNIX is an operating system created in the late 60's. Linus Thorvalds,
working with others, created Linux in the early 1990s. Caldera, Suse, Red
Hat and a host of others are "distros" or different flavours of Linux.
